Reading group recommendations?
Date: Thu 30 Oct 2003
LNE recently received an email from a reader who is looking to join a reading group: "I'm 30, a midwife, new to Durham but experienced in reading groups. I read English at Uni and have read ecclectically ever since. Most recent books read: The Corrections; Rebecca; The Crimson Petal and the White; Surfacing; The Language of Genes; Into the Silent Land (brilliant accessible neuropsychology/biography) and just finished Stanley Park by Timothy Taylor, which I very much enjoyed, despite unlikely ending, about a quest for roots and belonging both emotional and culinary in contemporary Vancouver. Will read anything recommended by others and love to talk about books." She's tried the library route, but is really looking for something with a more idiosyncratic flavour. Does anyone have any recommendations for suitable reading groups who are taking on new members in the Tyneside/Durham area? If you do, please drop us a line and we'll pass the information along. |
