News - Quid a play at northern stage
Date: Wed 15 Oct 2003
Website: www.northernstage.co.uk

northern stage would like to offer you the opportunity to see its new double bill of plays - Cinzano and Smirnova's Birthday - for £2. That's only a pound a play!

Not only that but they'll throw in a free glass of Cinzano plus mixer before the show.

Set in Moscow in the late 1980s, Ludmila Petrushevskaya's Cinzano and Smirnova's Birthday take a darkly comic look at the complex and hidden relationships between three men and three women during the period of transition between the fall of communism and the advent of capitalism.

In Cinzano, three men get drunk in a derelict basement. As they become increasingly inebriated they argue over money and assess their relationships with alcohol and their families.

At the opposite end of town the three women celebrate Smirnova's Birthday with their own stash of Cinzano. As they discuss similar themes but from different perspectives their relationships with the three men are intriguingly revealed.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, phone up the northern stage box office on (0191) 230 5151, quoting this offer.
