Secondment/temporary opportunity

Due to a secondment of our Literature Officer to the London office, the North East office of Arts Council England seeks to appoint a Literature Officer, in our Performing Arts Department, on a secondment/temporary basis to begin as soon as possible, for 6 months, with the possibility of a further extension of three months. The postholder is to contribute to the development of national policy and regional strategic plans, with principal responsibility for certain specified areas. You will also manage the North East's relationship with a range of funded organisations and to contribute to implementation of funding programmes to develop the Literature sector and audiences in the Region.

You'll be responsible co-ordinating the Save Our Short Story campaign, in partnership with the Scottish Arts Council and New Writing North. You'll support the development of international literature projects in the North East, including exchanges with Bulgaria and Siberia, and an International Festival of Stories as well as supporting the North East Literary Fellow, Colin Teevan in development of new writing for theatre.

You'll also work closely with key clients, including New Writing North, Independent Northern Publishers and Bloodaxe Books and encourage live literature and festivals, including the Durham Literature Festival and proudWords.
