Poetry Masterclass with Bob Beagrie

Bob Beagrie is a poet and working writer based in Middlesbrough. He won the Biscuit Poetry Prize in 2002, in 2003 he was granted a Time to Write Award. Publications include: Gothic Horror (Mudfog 1996), Masque: The Art of the Vampyre (Mudfog 2000), Huginn & Munnin (Biscuit 2002), Endeavour: Newfound Notes (Biscuit 2004), The Isle of St Hild (Hartlepool Borough Council 2004), a collaborative bi-lingfual pamphlet in English and Finnish entitled 'Perkele', written with Kalle Niinikangas (Ek Zuban 2006) and his latest publication, Yoik (Cinnamon Press 2008).
He lectures on the MA in Creative Writing at University of Teesside.

The workshop will explore names as masks as a starting point and move on to investigate how poets can inhabit and write out of different persona's to tell their own and other's stories. It would be useful for participants to spend some time prior to the session thinking about the stories they remember being told as a child.
